Mariner - Spring 2008 - (Page 18) Maritimes Behind the Scenes Dining on the ms Eurodam: an elemental experience A Signature-class ship deserves Signature-class dining, and that’s just what guests on the new ms Eurodam will discover this summer at Tamarind, a restaurant inspired by nature’s elements. Like every aspect of ship construction, the choice of restaurants is given careful consideration. In this case, the growing popularity of Pan-Asian cuisine warranted its very own dining venue—one that will complement the ship’s Rembrandt Dining Room, Pinnacle Grill, Lido Restaurant, Terrace Grill and room service, the new Canaletto Italian restaurant and Slice, a new all-day pizzeria. Tamarind is located on the ship’s top deck overlooking the pool, with an adjacent Silk Den Bar that o ers guests a view of a new, colorful poolside water feature. Like the Pinnacle Grill, the Tamarind will be reservations-only with a capacity of 144 diners. But while the Pinnacle Grill is formal all evenings, Tamarind will vary from smart casual to formal depending on the dress code of the day. Water, wood, fire and ice. e menu, designed by Master Chef Rudi Sodamin, is inspired by nature’s elements: water, wood, re and ice. In keeping with the Pan-Asian style of dining, appetizers from dim sum to pot stickers can be ordered and shared family style. Asian-inspired entrées include Sea Bass with a Hoisin-Lime Glaze; Baked Snapper in Rice Paper; Wasabi Soy Crusted Beef Tenderloin Steak; Steamed Lobster with Garlic, Ginger and Chili; Shrimp Szechuan with ai Basil; Roasted Peking Duck; and Red Curry Coconut Chicken. Vegetarian dishes will include Sesame Udon Noodles; Grilled Seitan and Vegetable Penang; and Vietnamese Cabbage Rolls. And desserts from Tamarind Buddha Chocolate to Banana Spring Rolls with Deep Fried Coconut Ice Cream round out the meal. Everything from décor to china and tableware is being scrutinized to ensure that guests enjoy a distinctive Pan-Asian dining experience at Tamarind. An experience you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy when the Eurodam makes her inaugural voyage July 2 from Rotterdam, the original home of Holland America Line.
