LLAMA_BES emerging Library space type -- “the evolving Learning commons - children, teens and families” This program focuses on the evolving concept of the “Learning Commons.” After an introduction of the examples and best practices of a Learning Commons, we will engage in a series of group exercises to plan, design and evaluate a Learning Commons for a library of your choice. Workshop attendees will develop understanding of the facility development process. This program is for public librarians, educators, K-12 school librarians, special and academic librarians. Subjects: Buildings and Facilities, Administration and Management, Learning Commons LLAMA_MAES Let the Data talk: communicating Assessment results to stakeholders An invited keynote speaker, a statistics professor from UCLA will introduce and illustrate how to optimize the impact of data through visualization. His talk will be followed by a panel of 4 presenters will then discuss specific practical applications of using library assessment data to make a point. The panel will be recruited through a call for proposals. Subjects: Assessment and Evaluation, Administration and Management, Research and Statistics MAGIRT / ACRL_STS, GODORT the nuts and bolts of map scanning: building your map scanning toolbox Scanning maps and making them available online presents many challenges for libraries and librarians. A panel of experts will discuss the details unique to scanning maps, including project planning and costs, tools and equipment, scanning and metadata standards, access strategies, copyright issues and more. Come gather the tips and tools you need to build your own map scanning toolbox!
