This session showcases the structural framework of an indigenous model; allows participants to experience the content of the workshop; provides innovative ideas on workshop delivery (and the challenges of delivering in earthquake ravaged Christchurch, Kai Tahu, one of the richest iwi of Aotearoa); and includes participant attendance and feedback. The Ultimate Debate returns for the seventh straight year with a lively discussion over the promises and pitfalls of cloud computing. Three panelists will tease out the various components of cloud computing to give you the insight needed to decide if you should be in the clouds or on terra firma. Subjects: Technology LLAMA_BES top Library building trends A panel of architects, librarians and consultants will provide an overview of new and exciting ideas in planning public and academic library facilities. Topics will include the rethinking of spaces for services, new building design and other “must have” items to keep your library upto-date. Each panelist will provide a briedf presentation with slides. The entire panel will then field questions as a team from the audience. Subjects: Buildings and Facilities, Administration and Management, Trends and Forecasting LITA scaling Drupal: building a 4 million+ union catalog Using Drupal, the Genesee Valley School Library System built a 4M+ record union catalog to meet the needs of over 400 school libraries in the Greater Rochester (NY) Region. The team behind FiveSystems.org, including the Drupal in Libraries Library Technology Reports co-authors Christopher Harris and Andy Austin, talk large scale Drupal development including external search engines, theming, the challenges of FRBR, and database scalability.
