James McBride and Gospel Quintet Highlight Wrap Up/Rev Up in Philly

Wrap Up/Rev Up Monday, January 27 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Wrapping up the Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia and revving up for Annual Conference in Las Vegas, winner of the 2013 National Book Award for Fiction and bestselling author James McBride and his gospel quintet will have attend ees on their feet with their mix of exuberant spirituals and jazz renditions of classic gospel music. The band will combine selected readings with music inspired, and in some cases even sung in the nineteenth century, by the abolitionist John Brown, as they present McBride's award-winning novel The Good Lord Bird in the Wrap Up/Rev Up performance, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27.

Exhibits to Feature Stages, Authors and Great Products

With hundreds of exhibiting organizations and multiple pavilions and stages featuring the hottest authors, the ALA Exhibits is an integral part of the learning and professional development that takes place at the Midwinter Meeting. The Exhibit Hall opens immediately following the Author Forum on Friday, January 24, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring a brief welcome by ALA and local dignitaries. The Exhibits Opening includes food, drink, and entertainment throughout the exhibit hall, giving exhibitors and attendees their first chance to network as the exhibits kick off.
