Buffeted by the popularity of listings services like Airbnb on one side and the proliferation of design-led and lifestyle hotels on the other, the extended stay/temporary living market is fighting back. A handful of startups have taken on mainstays, including Extended Stay America and Residence Inn, and are offering stylish alternatives to the big players. These include newcomers like LEVEL Furnished Living and industry veterans such as Hyatt-whose Hyatt House now has more than 70 locations.
