perspectives installations salone monster cabaret 024 August 2018 hospitalitydesign.com Photos by LUKAS PELECH ATELIER and courtesy of LASVIT Surrounding the recently restored 19thcentury Teatro Gerolamo theater, glass monsters and fantastic beasts made for Lasvit by 16 world-renowned designers-from Moritz Waldemeyer's evil Persian spirit to Alessandro Mendini's friendly and colorful Rombo-came to life as theatergoers looking down at the stage from the green-wrapped boxes. Employing various glass-making techniques, the pieces celebrated the unusual while an edgy cabaret show took place on the small stage set under 108 of Lasvit's bestselling Neverending Glory pendants. Rising from the center was the largest monster of all, the brainchild of Lasvit art director Maxim Velčovský. Dubbed "The Independant"-a play on the words independent and pendant-its totem-like shape rose 23 feet and was covered in more than 100 fused-glass TVs that broadcasted "fake news."http://www.hospitalitydesign.com
