The country is starving for state of the art
skilled nursing facilities such as the newly constructed Canyon Vista Rehab Center located
next to the Southern Hills Hospital in Las
Vegas, NV. It is a 120 bed facility that is focused
solely on the rehabilitation of its residents
with an emphasis on returning them home as
quickly as possible. It was designed to include
the features that are most in demand by the 77
million retiring Baby Boomers such as; private
bedrooms with private bathrooms that include
private showers, restaurant style dining along
with a large, state of the art, occupational/
physical therapy center. Although larger than
most, the facility is designed into 4 managed
neighborhoods that branch off of the central
lobby, rehab center, offices and kitchen. Each
neighborhood has its own dining room with
an attached food service/nutrition room for
between meals, snacks, its own activities space
and centralized nurses' station. Finally, the
Boomer generation has access to something
their parents never did; a non-institutional
environment built to heal and leave.
