Experts from Clemson University will share tips for solving the communication challenge that exists between architecture firms and healthcare organizations, offering models for collaboration and ways to integrate research
efforts to achieve better care delivery and design.

The project team behind the Akron Children's Hospital's Kay Jewelers Pavilion
will share its "blueprint for healthcare design" that includes mock-ups from early
concept through construction, which were used to ensure project expectations
were understood and met. This session will show attendees how to use mock-ups
to achieve a "plan/do/check" approach to adjust thinking for facility solutions.

the space and budgetary constraints that made an ED renovation problematic and the solutions they identified, including creative construction phasing
to maintain emergency operations, process improvement strategies to
maximize throughput, and a split-level design to better serve patients.

Representatives from the Army's Defense Health Headquarters, MEDCOM/
HFPA, will share how the organization is delivering virtual care services
across Army Medicine's globally integrated system, describing the system's
complexities and facility requirements.

This presentation from Shriners Hospital for Children and Heery will show
how to translate facility assessment data into an interactive dashboard that
provides a guide for strategic asset management decisions, helping to track
maintenance priorities, minimize health/safety issues, improve patient satisfaction scores, and mitigate unplanned costs of emergency plant failures.

This session explores the future of smart patient room design and various
technologies, including highly technical patient beds, interactive walls,
virtual reality, patient and staff monitoring equipment and tracking systems,
off-site command centers, and technology using 5G. NBBJ will offer advice
on how these technologies will impact clinical staffing needs, patient safety,
patient experience, and infection control.

The University of New Mexico Cancer Center and MDG Consulting will offer
a look inside the 2015 build-out of shell space that was shaped by knowledge
gleaned from a post-occupancy evaluation of a previous design. Additionally, the
panel will share how the facility management team became integral to the project's
success by realizing how critical their work is to patient comfort and safety.
