HCD Expo fosters the face-to-face interactions

THERE ARE CURRENTLY 2,823 approved emojis
in use, and that includes 157 new ones added in
2018 alone. That's a lot of ways to electronically
tell people how you feel, although I'm not always
100 percent sure what someone's trying to say
with a bagel or luggage emoji.
That's the problem with electronic communication-it doesn't show body language, and
some estimate that up to 90 percent of human
communication consists of body language.
Sure, email is a great way to quickly relay information, but does it allow you to respond immediately to movement and
facial expressions in order to build camaraderie and trust? Not a chance.
For product and service providers, this distinction is key. People tend to
buy from and listen to people they like, and in-person interaction is critical for building lasting relationships, whether they're personal or business.
Nowhere is this type of interaction more beneficial to our industry than
the Healthcare Design Expo & Conference taking place Nov. 10-13 in Phoenix. Whether it's chatting with colleagues at our annual networking reception sponsored by KI, taking in best practices through one of the many
facility tours offered, participating in one of more than 100 educational
sessions, or being inspired by our fantastic keynote speakers, HCD Expo
puts you right where you need to be-among thousands of industry peers.
HCD Expo features hundreds of exhibitors showcasing thousands of the
latest products and services to help you succeed. It's the only place where
healthcare design professionals can familiarize themselves with new products and meet the experts behind them, live and in person. Connecting
with others face to face says to them that they're important and you care
about what they're saying. And that's what you can achieve at our show.
There, when attendees take the time to visit an exhibitor, it conveys a level of interest that should be respected and taken seriously. It's also important to build on that foundation. Having been involved in the trade show
industry for almost 25 years, I've heard all too often from attendees who
were disappointed that after visiting with an exhibitor, they never received
information on the products in which they expressed interest.
So don't let the interaction stop in Phoenix. Sitting down with a prospective client or with a colleague over coffee certainly may take a bit more effort
than a clever text message; however, that time is much more efficient and
likely to help you quickly solve a problem or sell a product.
Registration for HCD Expo opens in mid-June, so email your colleagues,
text your coworkers, Snapchat your prospects, and post on Facebook all
the great things you'll see and do when you're in Phoenix. Then, most importantly, see all of them there. 
