BMX Plus! - March 2011 - (Page 72)
Intro and questions by Cody York “The BMX universe is huge and rapidly growing every day. Thousands of new enthusiasts begin their riding journey every year, studying every move of today’s current “hot” pros. Every discipline has its share of pros and super pros who are covered extensively in the media. To the up-and-comers of today, these pros write the gospel of BMX, but what the pros and super pros know is that there is an even more elite group of riders: legends and gurus. Often forgotten and rarely seen, this group of riders actually shaped the way BMX freestyle is today. i recently had the pleasure to shoot and catch up with one of the gurus of flatland, my long time friend, Scott Powell.” — Cody York Scott Powell relaxes in his personal practice space at Chenga World Skatepark with three of his five unique bikes that he rode for this interview, including his “traditional” bike setup (front brakes etc), the “Pedaler” (which has a modified front wheel, that has cranks and pedals instead of pegs), and his “brakeless” setup. 72 www.bmxplusmag.com
