You get the impression in looking at the Fe tivalthat it an art form that is struggling with itself to find its best mo of expression. Many of the performers needed to shape thi material more and pay more attention to the design elemer of their performance. Often they seemed to be an act search of a costume designer and a director. Often the performers come from a background that h not given them the usual routes to designers and directc that traditional theatre training emphasizes. It would be w worth it for designers to pursue what Jenkins calls "some the most important theatre work being done today." It work that could benefit from visually-oriented people w are sensitive to these new directions.
