The seating plan (fig 5) and the reflected ceiling plan (fig 6) strike a compromise between the shoebox and the fan. The 15 ton ceiling is a four-part hinged. mitered space frame of dampened-steel panels and dOlI"llUghts which decrease in density from from to back. An overhead I'oid comains the programmed absorption sl'stem for the conlrol of rel'erberalion. The longitudinal perspective sections (figs - and 8) shOll' the 1,800 seat concert mode with the acoustical shell erected on stage and the repositioned ceiUng for the opera-musical comeeh mode.
