ROSE BRAND award for scene design KIMI MAEDA University of South Carolina Nominated by Nic Ularu Ms. Maeda is an M.F.A. candidate in scene design. She recently returned from Japan where she worked as an intern with the Japanese scenic designer, Shusaku Futamura. She has designed sets and costumes for USC's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream as well as sets for The Trojan Women, The Crucible, and Othello. She also assisted Nic Ularu on award-winning stage productions in New York, including Painted Snake on a Painted Chair at La Mama, Etc. A jury member commented, she uses "strong imagery in a way that forces us as the audience to step into a welldefined, if unusual world."
