hat is Tech Expo? Having served as the chair of the Tech Expo committee since 2008, I've come to understand that while the variety of exhibits seems infinite, the idea of Tech Expo is simple. It's the expression of ingenuity through meeting production challenges large and small. I applaud all the exhibitors for their creativity and their ability to work under the constraints common to all of us in USITT-time, money, and manpower. Case in point: when I needed a quick and easy method for a light confetti effect for a production of Triumph of Love in 2007, I remembered the Tech Expo exhibit I had just seen by Michael Rolleri and Zachary Hamm, titled "Snowing Leaves." Their ingenious solution was little more than squirrel-cage fans mounted on five-gallon buckets, but it created a beautifully dramatic effect in their production of Cyrano de Bergerac. I always find it exciting to see how many different individuals in so many different stages of their careers come TECH 34 theatre design & technology s p r i n g 2013 ExPo
