I wanted to pass along a few CMP/CIC updates: • The Convention Industry Council recently announced the latest new member organization, the Travel Industry Association (TIA). CIC now represents 34 member organizations within the meetings, conventions, exhibitions and hospitality industry. Brenda Anderson, Chair of the CIC Board and CEO of Society of Incentive & Travel Executives, said, “The addition of TIA really completes the loop for us with in the overall travel and hospitality industry. There are so many issues on which we have common perspective and concern. We welcome TIA and look forward to their participation and dialogue as we move into the future.” • The Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), the International Association of Conference Centres (IACC), Convention Industry Council (CIC) and Content Management Corporation (CMC) partnered for the Convention Industry Council (CIC)-endorsed pilot CMP International Study Day, on Friday, July 18. Across North America, participants of the CMP International Study Day gathered at IACC-accredited Conference Centers to wrap-up their study efforts for the August 9th CMP Examination. • The CMP Board Meeting took place in Vancouver, BC on July 25-27 followed by the 2008 CMP Conclave. We had 225 registered CMP’s who attended educational seminars, assisted in writing questions for future exams, tested current questions for accuracy and took a mock exam.
