Huntington Beach Visitors Guide 2008 - (Page 19) Downtown Huntington BeacH: SHopping, Fun, FooD Beyond the beach, our downtown is a favorite destination. It is one of the most fun and hip downtowns you will ever encounter. Trendsetting boutiques and eclectic restaurants happily coexist alongside sidewalk diners and funky souvenir shops. Surfing memorabilia is evident amidst all of it. Let us guide you into Main Street from the Pier. tHe waLKing touR Begin at the end of the Pier. After a lovely meal at Ruby’s (see page 56), stroll up the Pier past the bait shop and The Kite Connection. Enter Pier Plaza, where you will see Zack’s, Duke’s and Savannah at the Beach (see page 56). If it is summer, there may be a free concert happening. If it is the weekend, stop to take a look at the Art-a-Faire and the Farmers’ Market. After exploring the Pier areas, cross Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and enter Main Street. To the left is Oceanview Promenade, the retail and office building that is home to Jack’s Surfboards. From there, follow the Surfing Walk of Fame (see page 13) along Main Street. Across Main on the corner of PCH is the Pierside Pavilion. Amongst the many restaurants and retail stores there is Huntington Surf and Sport, home of the Surfers’ Hall of Fame (see page 13). You can’t miss the statue of Duke Kahanamoku out in front. Now you are on your own. Explore the town—shop, snack, enjoy. Stay all day, then eat dinner and hear some music in the evening. main StReet SHopping Beach Island (p. 23)* Great selection of souvenirs and beachwear at great prices. 127 Main Street • 714.374.9428 California Greetings (p. 21)* Souvenir cards, books and official Surf City USA® items, plus home décor, resort wear and more. 301 Main Street, #110 714.960.1688 • www.cagreetings.com Catwalk Men’s and women’s clothing. 119 Main Street • 714.960.3444 Charlie’s on Main Women’s clothing and jewelry. 301 Main Street, Suite 108 714.969.8033 myspace.com/charliesonmain pieR pLaZa The Plaza was built in 1998 and is the grand entry point between the beach and downtown Huntington Beach.
