Tucked away off Pacific Coast Highway, this canal-laden enclave is reminiscent of Venice, Italy, only on a smaller, less-congested scale. The best way to enjoy its beauty is aboard a boat. Situated in the city’s northwest corner, Huntington Harbour encompasses five man-made islands connected by a network of navigable channels and the surrounding land. The waterways are lined with contemporary multi-million-dollar homes, private docks and luxury yachts. The harbour is alive with activity on a daily basis. The marina provides a pleasant waterfront backdrop, capturing the feeling of a seaside resort with quaint restaurants, boutiques and boat slips. You can rent boats here, dock your own boat, enjoy several parks or take a romantic gondola cruise. Huntington Harbour is a secluded pleasure craft port only 15 minutes from the open water of the Pacific Ocean, between Long Beach and Newport Beach harbors. It connects with Anaheim Bay via a waterway that passes under a bridge on Pacific Coast Highway, past the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station and Anaheim Bay National Wildlife Refuge. It is the closest mainland stopover point — only 24 nautical miles — to Catalina Island. CRUISE OF LIGHTS® The annual narrated evening holiday voyages in December showcase the area with its festive decorations and elaborate lights. In its 45th year, it raises money for music programs in Orange County schools. Nightly 45-minute cruises begin in mid-December. Boats accommodate 100 people.
