Information Services News This edition of Information Services News provides the latest updates on the Uniform Intermodal Interchange and Facilities Access Agreement and IANA Intermodal Information Services from Debbie Sasko, IANA's assistant vice president for information services. IANA Launches Equipment Return Location Directory On Feb. 8, 2016, in conjunction with the launch of the Equipment Return Location Directory at, the revisions to Section E.1. Equipment Return in the UIIA became effective. This new online directory, as referenced in the new Section E.1.b., provides a list of pre-designated satellite return locations allowing for motor carrier return of equipment to a location other than the original point of interchange, at the request of the equipment provider. A copy of the revised Agreement containing the revisions to Section E.1. Equipment Return is available on the UIIA website at UIIA participants are also encouraged to review the new Equipment Return Location Directory, found under "What's New" on the home page of New Online Insurance Submission Process Demo'ed IANA previewed its new online insurance submission process to agents during two webinars conducted on Jan. 26, 2016. The newly designed insurance process is an effort to streamline the submission of insurance for agents that provide information on behalf of motor carriers participating in the UIIA. The re-design is also a step towards the goal of a paperless environment. By October 2016, all agents will be required to be registered as an authorized insurance representative in the UIIA database and all insurance information will need to be submitted online. The new online process presents to the agent an actual ACORD 22 certificate of insurance form to complete online. Among its benefits, the online interface will ensure the agent is aware of any problems resulting from information submitted that could potentially impact the insured motor carrier's ability to interchange equipment with UIIA equipment providers. It also provides the agent the ability to update insurance for an account 24 hours a day/7 days a week. The anticipated release date of the new online process is the first part of April, and an oļ¬ƒcial notice of the exact date for implementation will be sent to motor carriers and insurance agents in early March. Additional webinars will also be conducted between now and October to ensure agents are prepared for the changes. Insurance agents are encouraged to register to have the capability to submit insurance online by going to New Look for UIIA Application Previewed Webinars were also held on Jan. 27 to introduce motor carriers and equipment providers to the new, consistent look of the UIIA application screens after IANA re-designed the main UIIA website last year. Based on user feedback, several new features will be included on the motor carrier web interface when the new design is released, including enhanced printing capability. In addition, motor carriers will have the ability through the application to send their insurance agent a copy of the current EP Checklist that identifies the equipment providers with whom the motor carrier does business under the UIIA. New icons will also be introduced that allow motor carriers and equipment providers to quickly identify active and expired insurance policies. UIIA participants will be notified of the actual release date for the newly designed UIIA screens as well as the application enhancements in early March. Electronic DVER Reporting Ready The Driver Vehicle Examination Report Notification Service has been expanded to enable users to receive DVER data electronically, via XML format. Currently motor carrier and equipment provider subscribers are notified when a DVER has been issued on intermodal equipment via email, with a copy of page two of the Intermodal Equipment Provider Report attached in a PDF file format. The new XML format also includes a link within the file that points directly to the PDF document to which the data relates. Additional search capabilities have also been added to allow users to search for DVERs by license plate, license state, VIN number and alpha numeric chassis ID. Advanced reporting functionalities are also available, allowing subscribers to compile the additional DVER data fields available when receiving the information via XML. Motor carriers and equipment providers that wish to sign up to take advantage of the DVER service or current subscribers interested in receiving the DVER data via XML should contact Stacie Fagan at UIIA Providers Amend Addenda The following UIIA equipment providers have recently amended their individual addenda to the UIIA: * K-Line America, Inc., effective Jan. 4, 2016; * * * * * * US Lines, effective Jan. 4, 2016; Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp., effective Jan. 11, 2016; Seaboard Marine Ltd., effective Jan. 30, 2016; CMA-CGM (America) LLC, effective Feb. 6, 2016; APL Pte.
