Changes Proposed to IANA Bylaws At its May meeting, the Board of Directors of the Intermodal Association of North America considered potential amendments to the Association's bylaws. The suggested changes focus on Board actions without a meeting, Article V, Section 12., and several other "housekeeping" changes in various sections that were recommended by IANA's General Counsel to ensure that the bylaws are in compliance with common law. Proposed changes would also remove outdated and obsolete language. These amendments will be posted to the "members only" section of the IANA website on July 8, for a 30-day review period . Comments and questions should be sent no later than August 8 to or via fax to 301-576-9384. * Information Services News * This edition of Information Services News provides the latest updates on the Uniform Intermodal Interchange and Facilities Access Agreement and IANA Intermodal Information Services from Debbie Sasko, IANA's assistant vice president for information services. Modifications to the UIIA The Intermodal Interchange Executive Committee unanimously approved revisions to the following sections of the UIIA that became effective on June 13, 2016: * * * Section H.1. Default Dispute Resolution and Binding Arbitration Section B. Definition of Terms - Item B.18 Interchange Period and Item B.22 Per Diem Section D.3.d. Equipment Condition Section E.3. Damage to Equipment, Item E.3.c.(1) Section F.3. Liability, Indemnity and Insurance The modification to Section H.1. clarifies that a motor carrier must include the reason for its disagreement when disputing an equipment provider's invoice. In addition, the revision also clarifies what constitutes a valid "response" from the equipment provider to a motor carrier's dispute, i.e. the equipment provider's acceptance or denial of the dispute. The revisions to Sections B, D, E and F were all approved by the IIEC to address street interchanges under the UIIA. See related feature article in this edition, on page 11. Development of the street interchange web portal and mobile application are now complete, and will be available to users in early July. A copy of the revised Agreement containing the revisions to the above sections is available on the UIIA website at Did you receive a roadside violation today?
