Michael Smith, founder and president of ASF Transportation, is the new president of ContainerPort Group
Inc. following the merger of the two companies. Smith,
who was president of ASF before the combination,
"brings exactly the type of hands-on, genuine, and noego type of management style which we were patiently
looking to bring to the organization," said Fred Hunger,
chairman of CPG.
Smith built ASF, based in Alabama, into a company
that, combined with CPG, now has more than 1,300
pieces of equipment in its motor carrier fleet. His career
also includes executive posts at Southern Cal Transport
and Schneider National. Smith succeeds the late
Russel Graef, one of CPG's co-founders.

Chris Kete was named president and CEO of Nascent Technology, chairman
Fabio Teti announced.
Kete's career includes executive service at trucking equipment suppliers Cummins and Meritor, as well as senior posts in recent years at manufacturing firms,
including Horsburgh & Scott Company, Wastequip, US GreenFiber and Griffin Gear.
"This is the right time to transition leadership as Nascent embarks on its next
phase of growth and development," Teti said in a statement.
Stephen Madeira has been named chief technology officer at SynchroNet to
support the corporate, intermodal and marine initiatives at the company. He is
reporting to CEO Bob Baker, and joins the company after more than two decades of
experience at companies such as NASDAQ Private Market.
At the Association of American Railroads, Kristin
Smith was promoted to the post of vice president of
communications. She replaced Patricia Reilly, who
left the AAR at the end of 2017. Prior to the promotion,
Smith led the group's long-running and award-winning
"Freight Rail Works" campaign.
FTR Transportation Intelligence has announced the
appointment of Avery Vise as vice president, trucking
research and Todd Tranausky as senior transportation
Smith
analyst.
Vise is responsible for developing and distributing
trucking-oriented reports, using more than 30 years' experience as an editor, analyst
and researcher. He has been a trucking industry presence for nearly two decades.
Tranausky is joining FTR from Argus, a publishing company where he was North
American transportation editor. His duties will include oversight of current transport
reports in the rail and intermodal sectors, as well as developing new products.
CIMC Intermodal Equipment announced a number of promotions, including the
appointment of Don Hu as executive vice president/CFO operations.
Chris Ratliff has been promoted to the post of senior vice president, production.
Before joining CIMC in late 2015 with responsibility for an East Coast operations
facility, he was an executive at A.P. Moller-Maersk.
Trevor Ash was named vice president of sales & marketing. He joined CIMC in
2016, bringing more than 20 years of sales experience.
Maria Munoz has been promoted to executive director, human resources, and
Missy Pinksaw was appointed as a director of corporate marketing.
In addition, German Hernandez was named director, safety & security.
