Ports America Group has appointed Mark Montgomery as president and CEO.
Montgomery was the head of its Chesapeake terminal in Baltimore from 2010
to 2014, where he led the company through a public-private partnership with the
Maryland Port Administration.
Replacing Michael Hassing, Montgomery currently serves as a senior adviser
and operating partner to the infrastructure investing strategy of Oaktree Capital
Management.
According to Montgomery, "The company will remain focused on providing bestin-class service to many of the world's leading shipping lines.
"I also believe there is a tremendous opportunity to provide improved workflow
solutions to beneficial cargo owners to drive dramatic growth for the company."
Concurrently, Dave Starling, former CEO of the Kansas City Southern railroad, will
become chairman of the board of directors.
He currently serves on the board of directors of the Greenbrier Companies, as
well as being a senior adviser to Oaktree's infrastructure investing strategy.
Prior to KCS, Starling held management, leadership and operational positions at
the Panama Canal Railways Company, American President Lines, the St. Louis-San
Francisco Railroad and Burlington Northern.
Starling will replace James Kowalishin, who will continue to serve on the board of
directors.
Saltchuk has announced that Tim Nolan has been named the next president and
CEO of TOTE Inc., the parent company to TOTE Maritime and TOTE Services. Nolan,
who previously served as the president of TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico, has been
with the TOTE family of companies since 2013. He took over the helm July 16 from
Anthony Chiarello who announced his retirement earlier this year.
Jeff Silver resigned from Coyote Logistics LLC, the freight broker he co-founded
with his wife Marianne, which was acquired by UPS Inc. in July 2015.
Jacques Saadé, the founding president of the CMA CGM Group, died in
Marseilles, France, on June 24, 2018.
The Port of Oakland named maritime veteran Eric Napralla as its chief
wharfinger. Napralla, a 6-year port employee, will manage seaport operations that
range from tenant relationships to facilities leasing. He replaces Chris Peterson who
retired in late June after 25 years at the port, 12 as chief wharfinger.
"Eric brings a wealth of experience to the job," said Port of Oakland Maritime
Director John Driscoll. "He has successfully managed important programs and
projects within the Maritime Operations group and we're pleased that he's taking on
this new assignment."
