TECHNOLOGY
In light of the Ontario Government's 2017 Budget, specifically the new measure that "insurers offer a
discount to policyholders who choose to receive documents electronically," we pushed the agenda on
enhancing the ease of doing business with the broker network - an essential component of the broker value
proposition.
TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE

Implemented a new Technology Committee comprised of brokers applying cutting-edge business
practices and processes within their own brokerages that leverage available technology
*
Hosted meetings with all major insurance companies to discuss their technology positions and
potential collaboration initiatives
*
Met with vendors and Broker Management Systems moving towards digital interaction; developed
a training session for IBAO Members
*
Created a clear roadmap to facilitate the promotion of technology as a lever to enhance the
broker/consumer business relationship
WHITE PAPER
*
Issued a white paper asking company partners to reconsider their strategies of developing
individual consumer-facing mobile apps; titled Electronic Communication with the Ontario
Consumer, the paper outlines how insurance industry stakeholders can leverage the broker
channel to ensure their consumer value proposition meets consumer demands
*
White paper was signed by all provincial broker associations and circulated to company partners
this Spring/Summer
BROKER EDUCATION
*
Hosted a Principal Broker Conference Call to outline why brokerages should invest in technology
to communicate with clients electronically
*
Hosted a live webcast titled Market Update: Broker Solutions for Electronic Documents - a training
session that presented available options and general implementation timelines; 346 brokers
participated
