GET TO KNOW THE IBAO

hris is our Systems Administrator and last month she celebrated 20 years
with the IBAO. She's the first line of defence for any tech issues and handles
membership and our database. "No two days are the same."

In her time here Chris has seen quite a bit of change at IBAO. "It has a fresher
atmosphere. There's a lot of new ideas coming in. Things we used to do manually
have become automated and we've been able to focus on different things."

Chris enjoys the way her job presents her with novel problems to solve. "I like looking
at things from different angles and figuring out, 'What are we missing here?' I find
that interesting."
Though her role is focused on technology, she finds the greatest pleasure in its human
aspects. "I like the people. And getting their suggestions, I'm very open to that."
Spending time with people is important to Chris. "Friends. Family. That's big on my
list. I have family over almost every weekend." She grew up in Trinidad and recently
went back for vacation. "All my brothers and sisters are there. So I try to go home often."
Her vacation coincided with Trinidad's Carnival. "It's a fun time. I like to dance and
every night of the week there's something going on."
Chris has always kept active. For much of her life she played netball and even played
on the Ontario Provincial Team. "I love netball, I've been playing since I was ten."
Though as of late a new sport has caught her interest. "These days I bowl with my
friends. I never thought I'd be bowling, but it turned out to be fun."
Whether it's at the office or in her free time, Chris is happiest working as a part of a
team. "My favorite memories are all from when we work together, like at Convention
- everybody helping out, people sharing their stories, getting fresh ideas. If you have
a good team, you're going to have good results."
