augmented projection helps in managing 3-D shapes. Moreover, they reported the morphing activities to be natural.
The quantitative performance evaluation by using different
mesh sizes suggests investigating the possibility to include
more efficient algorithms for the detection of the contact
necessary to compute the force-feedback actions.
The promising results of the demonstrative example and
the user group feedback encourage the in-depth study of
such innovative methodology in order to increase the modeling capabilities and the interactive feedback. The proposed
methodology will now be used for addressing both biomechanical modeling problems and geometrical optimization
studies. The ability to move shape modification from coarse
mesh representations suitable for an interactive usage to high
fidelity meshes suitable for high fidelity CAE makes the
approach effective for practical engineering applications.

Pier Paolo Valentini (valentini@ing.uniroma2.it) earned his
M.S. degree in mechanical engineering and his Ph.D. degree
in mechanical systems design from the University of Rome,
Italy. He is currently an associate professor of applied
mechanics teaching virtual prototyping and bioprosthesis at
the Department of Enterprise Engineering, University of
Rome Tor Vergata, Italy. His research interests include computational mechanics, virtual prototyping, dynamics and
structural simulations, biomechanics, and innovative computer-aided methodologies.
Marco Evangelos Biancolini (biancolini@ing.uniroma2.it)
earned his M.S. degree in mechanical engineering and Ph.D
degree in mechanical systems design from the University of
Rome Tor Vergata, Italy, where he is currently an assistant
professor with the Department of Enterprise Engineering. He
is currently with Fusion4Energy as an expert in the field of
fracture mechanics and is an expert of shape optimization
using mesh morphing, fluid-structure interaction, vehicle
design, and advanced structural analysis.
