spotlight On Jim Look, VP of Professional Activities By georgia c. stelluto Q: Tell us a little about yourself, Jim. A: After spending 32 years in the energy business (mostly outside the United States), my position as IEEE-USA vice president of professional activities gives me an opportunity to give back to IEEE members, by putting into play the career assistance and helpful suggestions that I received (especially early in my career) from other IEEE members. I remember well the encouragement I received from fellow members of the Northeastern Wisconsin Section in my first years after graduation. In my current IEEE-USA position, I’m encouraged by the level of expertise and support that we can provide to student members through the Student Professional Awareness Committee. Likewise, the Professional Activity Committee for Engineers (PACE) pushes our resources down to the Jim Look, with his golden retriever, mia, at his house in Boulder, colo. mia is three years old, adopted from golden retriever rescue of the rockies. continued on next page Ú contents inventors electric vehicles congress s-pac
