Inland Empire Golfer - March 2008 - (Page 34) WHAT’S NEW Kid’s Golf Park Opens A 9-Hole Mini Golf Course For Kids Opens At Los Serranos Country Club T o Dave Kramer, General Manager at Los Serranos CountryClub, the son of the great tennis star, Jack Kramer, golf is more than a game - it’s a commitment to a better way of life. Golf, Kramer says, is a way to teach youngsters the meaning of sportsmanship. Golf, by its inherent qualities of honesty, fairness, and respect for others engenders in children the attitudes that bring about a better and healthier quality of life for all. Our goal is to build self-esteem and character in each child that participates in our program. Golf is not an easy game, infact it is a very challenging game that is difficult to master, and if a child learns that challenge is a part of everything we do, and sees it as an opportunity, an adventure, rather than an obstacle to success they will meet life head-on without the fear of failing, Kramer says. Parents also gain from this experience by learning to temper their emotions, and allow their children to grow through positive re-enforcement. Yelling “great shot!” when they happen, and supporting and lifting the spirit on mis-hits builds the will to succeed. The park is free, and open to kids from 3 to 16-years of age kids under 6 must be accompanied by a parent, or an adult. The adult may participate with their child. Each child will be loaned three clubs and waffle balls. IEG To come and enjoy this adventure, call Los Serranos golf club at (951) 597-1711.
