Executive Housekeeping Today - January 2008 - (Page 22) iHW Celebrations (continued from previous page) put video Here The Houston Chapter of I.E.H.A. celebrated IHW with their 5th Annual Housekeeping Olympics, held at the University of Houston Recreation Center. The games began at 9 a.m., with the marching in of teams led by Henry Paige, President of the Chapter. Fifteen teams were represented at the Olympics, and there was a total of six events held; including a pad toss, cheerleading, a dust mop barrel race, a toilet paper toss, a push broom relay, and a pad free throw. Trophies and medals were presented to the teams during the afternoon, and fun was had by all. The overall winner of the Olympics was the Texas Children’s Hospital West Tower Longhorns. Congratulations! The Lakeview Subacute Care Center in Wayne, NJ, celebrated IHW with a fully-catered luncheon and D.J. The entire housekeeping staff and maintenence department attended the event. International Housekeepers Week September 14-20, 2008 The Greene County Partnership, along with Comfort Inn, General Morgan Inn, Hampton Inn, and Jameson Inn, in Greeneville, TN, celebrated IHW by having a friendly competition in eight different categories pertaining to housekeeping; including pillow amenity, amenity display, towel display, best bed display, visitor information display, best-dressed housekeeper, sheet folding, and meeting space presentation. Ron Metcalfe, operations manager of WGRV/WIKQ/WSMG radio, and Dale Long, circulation and printing director of The Greeneville Sun, were selected as judges. The judges, along with Tammy Kinser, the GCP’s tourism director, visited the participating inns in order to judge them on the different categories and select winners.
