Fontaine was responsible for numerous accomplishments and legislation in Mississippi, including working to change the requirement that cruise ships could not begin gaming activities until they reached 12 miles from shore to allowing gaming to begin immediately upon departing the docks. He received every award imaginable while he was the owner/operator of La Font Inn; it was the meeting and social place of the area. When he moved into his new home it was said to have taken several hours just to pack up his trophies and awards. A service and burial was held on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at St. Pierre’s Episcopal Church in Gautier, MS. 24 Executive Housekeeping Today/January 2008 Features Define 2007 International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show WHITE PLAINS, NY—The 92nd Annual International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show® (IH/M&RS) held November 10-13, 2007, brought together 36,100 industry professionals and more than 1,250 companies at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Attendance and exhibitor participation were bolstered by new and improved market features, including the show’s first Green Restaurant Association Pavilion, the return of Guestroom 2010, and a collocation with Cultural Food New York. Of the 1,250 exhibiting companies, 270 were first-time participants, creating a dynamic showcase of products never before seen at this market. Exhibitors noted an increase in property owners and decision-makers walking the aisles, creating new opportunities and generating quality leads. The keynote address was given by political power couple and CNN personalities Mary Matalin and James Carville, as well as the highly-acclaimed CEO Leadership Panel and U.S. Lodging Industry Summit Panel.
