This time, he received a Bachelor’s of Science in Management at the National Louis University in Wheaton, Illinois. This was such a positive experience for him that six months later, he went back to National Louis University to receive his MBA. A combination of this education and experience made Chromzack the perfect candidate to be the Manager of Custodial Services for Plant and Facilities for the Chicago Zoological Society. In his position, Chromzack manages the functions of the custodial services department; works closely with his supervisors in scheduling their work crews; develops and implements standard operating procedures and performance standards; prepares and manages the custodial department’s budget, including purchasing of equipment and materials; interacts with other departments, clients, and vendors; and is responsible for interviewing and making hiring decisions, performing employee appraisals, and providing commendations as appropriate. “I feel that quality service goes far beyond just providing a clean environment,” says Chromzack. “It is measured by how we interact with our guests and how we treat each other in the workplace.
