Executive Housekeeping Today- August 2008 - (Page 3) As I reflect upon my 28-year journey as a member of the International Executive Housekeepers Association, I recognize that this Association has been blessed to have had many futuristic thinkers and visionaries who have gone before us as leaders. When I think about individuals who have served as President of this great Association, I think first of Margaret Barnes, who had the extraordinary vision to bring together a small group of hotel executive housekeepers in New York City to found an Association that now has an international membership. I also think about contemporary heroes, such as Oneita Dease, Roy Young, Martin Reid, Fred Day, Harry Kendrick, Christine Cowan, Howard Furtaw, Phil Bailey, Susann Commens, Anna Rodriguez, a A Message from Your Incoming President.. Gene Woodard, Paulette Collins, Hazel Reese, and Darrel Hicks— just some of the people whom I’ve had the privilege of watching and learning from over these past three decades. I come with four initiatives that I will strive to work toward during my term as President of I.E.H.A.: 1. I want to be able to provide additional support to our Chapter Presidents, Chapter Membership Chairs, and (continued on next page) Marvin Ellsworth, R.E.H.
