If you would like to contribute to this monthly column, please send your comments to ldigiulio@ieha.org. inside IEHA Thank you all for a wonderful Convention! See you next year in Chicago, October 6-9, 2009! IEHA Unveils New Logo and Web Site During 42nd Annual Conference and Convention On Tuesday, September 9, 2008, IEHA unveiled our new logo and Web site to our membership during the Business Session that took place during our 42nd annual Conference and Convention, in conjunction with ISSA/INTERCLEAN®—North America, in Las Vegas, NV. The updated logo and Web site were released in concurrence with IEHA’s leap into a new era—with the zero-district realignment plan that was first announced during our 41st annual Conference and Convention in 2007. IEHA’s modernized Web site (located at the same address—www. ieha.org) is user-friendly and simple to navigate—ideal for members. The new site is completely searchable—allowing users to find information effortlessly. Members of IEHA can log in using their username and password in order to view additional information, such as Executive Housekeeping Today magazine archives and job postings. In addition, members are able to use the IEHA Social, a new social networking tool, similar to MySpace, LinkedIn, or Facebook, only focused on individuals involved in facility management, that allows you to post a profile about yourself, discover persons who share your challenges and can provide answers, become “friends” with other members, write comments to each other virtually, and much more. If you have any questions regarding the new Web site, please call the Association Office at (800) 200-6342. Pictured from left to right: Edith Cole, Keith Smith, Steve Ashkin, and Jolinda Matthews. On June 10, 2008, the Washington DC Chapter held its 2nd Annual Cleaning Symposium. About 200 people were in attendance, and the event included the following presentations: Steve Ashkin: How to Implement Green Cleaning; Mike Hamilton: Integrated Pest Management; Ralph Fondren (Spartan Chemical): CIMS; and a roundtable discussion including Steve Ashkin, Cary Buckley, Ralph Fondren, and Jeff McGee: Q&A Green Cleaning Implementation. The event was tremendously successful, and included 14 different vendors. Many of the participants stated that the programs were valuable to them, and was very similar to a much larger trade show—without the expense! The vendors reported that the show was great, they reached their target market, and made a lot of good contacts and leads. The Chapter raised almost $200 through the event, which might seem small, but they gained a higher profile and encouragement that there will be many more joining IEHA. Attention IEHA Members Do you know any up-and-coming employees in the cleaning industry who aren’t current members of IEHA? For example, it could be a supervisor in your department, a janitor at your children/ grandchildren’s school, a colleague, a friend, etc. If so, we would like to know them! Please send their name and contact information to excel@ieha.org. Thank you! 28 Executive Housekeeping Today/October 2008 http://www.ieha.org http://www.ieha.org http://www.ieha.org
