Based on the reports I’ve reviewed from our Direc tors-at-Large, most Chapter Presidents have been very responsive to the personal conversations we are having with them. The reports also show that the Chapter Presidents have concerns primarily around the following issues: attendance at meetings, selecting the right educational programs, and retaining members. As a solution, some Chapter Presidents are looking into holding virtual meetings in order to bring in those members that would have to travel great distances. I believe that these issues of attendance, educational programs, and retention can be resolved by working together. Attendance can be increased by assigning Chapter officers to a certain amount of members to give a personal, premeeting call to encourage them to attend and to assist them in any way. Beneficial educational topics can be chosen by surveying Chapter members as to what kind of education is relevant to their jobs and work towards supplying those needs. Member retention can be achieved by assigning Chapter officers to follow-up with members who do not renew and find out how we can address their needs.” Directors. As we all strive to build a stronger Association, the new Director-at-Large position is providing a vital link and great support to the Chapter Presidents. I believe the Chapter Presidents are very supportive of the personal contact they are now having with the BOD. Having a Board member assigned article as liaison provides a resource that can connect the Chapters to best practices and creativity.
