Executive Housekeeping Today - January 2009 - (Page 10) IHW CelebRAtIOnS (continued from page 5) The Environmental Services Department at SPAR (Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation) in Shreveport, Louisiana, celebrated IHW with a week’s worth of activities. On Monday, September 15, Division Manager Reggie Hodge treated his leadership staff to lunch at the location of their choosing; on Tuesday, the day-shift crew leader treated his crew members to lunch, and the warehouse supervisor took his crew to dinner in the evening; on Wednesday evening, the nightshift crew leader held his annual banquet for his staff; and on Friday, a barbecue was held for everybody, including night crew and day crew. They had a drawing for gifts and prizes, and all had a great time. In addition, the Director of SPAR, Shelly Ragle, stopped by and gave the Environmental Services staff encouraging words and enlightened them on what’s happening in SPAR. On September 26, 2008, members of the Hawaii Chapter celebrated IHW with a proclamation signing with the Honolulu City Mayor, Mufi Hannemann. Prior to 1948, housekeeping was a part of the dietary department. Above is the poster that was designed in order to honor the special anniversary.
