IEHA member Andrew Bales presented a session in the ISSA Education Theatre at 12:30 p.m. titled “FTE’s—A Fresh Approach to an Old Challenge.” At 1 p.m., the IEHA International Member Meeting took place at the Las Vegas Convention Center. IEHA was thrilled to have several representatives from our sister Association, the United Kingdom Housekeepers Association (UKHA), present at our 2008 Convention: Ian Hughes, National Chairman, UKHA; Linda Cooper; Jean Roberts; Liz Smith-Mills; and Sheila Perera. At 3 p.m., IEHA held a Pre-Business Session “Fun Break” sponsored by VF Imagewear, prior to the Business Session that occurred from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. During the session, IEHA leaped into a new era with the installation of our new officers and six Directors-at-Large. Ian Hughes, National Chairman, UKHA; Liz Smith-Mills; and Sheila Perera; The highlight of the Business Session included the launching of the new IEHA logo, which received an excellent response from our members, and the unveiling of IEHA’s new Web site. Paul Rathey, IEHA’s Webmaster, gave a short presentation regarding the use of the IEHA Social, a new social networking tool, and how to navigate around the new modernized, user-friendly site. Rathey also shared the positives of the new site with all attendees. “The 2008 Convention in Las Vegas brought with it many exciting opportunities for IEHA,” says Marvin Ellsworth, REH, IEHA President. “With the Many Convention attendees enjoyed laughs during the ISSA Keynote speech given by Bill Cosby on Wednesday morning. elimination of the district structure came excellent opportunities for new and vital relationships to be developed between the Chapter leaders and the Association Board of Directors. In addition, the introduction of the new IEHA logo and the new Web site brought greater branding opportunities for IEHA. I can hardly wait for the 2009 IEHA Convention in Chicago.” On Tuesday evening, after the Business Session, many IEHA members attended Spartan’s spectacular party and enjoyed dancing the night away at the Paris hotel and casino. On Wednesday morning, September 10, many Convention attendees enjoyed laughs during the ISSA Keynote speech given by Bill Cosby. The trade show floor was then open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for attendees to walk around and enjoy the booths or attend educational sessions.
