Lake Powell is surrounded by nearly 2,000 miles of shoreline, which is about the size of the entire west coast of the United States. Lake Powell is 186 miles long and contains more than 90 major canyons that offer plenty of room to escape the crowds and find some personal space on the lake. Lees Ferry and Lake Powell are part of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Lake Powell is home to more than a dozen species of reptiles, 170 species of birds and 800 mammals. Rainbow Bridge was discovered a century ago in 1909 and holds the distinction as the largest natural bridge in the world. Five rivers feed into the formation of Lake Powell. The Green River from Wyoming, the Colorado River from Colorado, the San Juan River from New Mexico, along with the Escalante and Dirty Devil Rivers from Utah.
