he thing I love the most about the Imprinted
Sportswear Shows (ISS) is getting to meet so
many great people out there in the apparel
decorating world. I've been at this for more than 25
years, and have met hundreds if not thousands of decorators over the years. But
each show brings new friends and new stories to share with the rest of the industry.
So it was at our recent ISS Las Vegas event that I was sitting in the lobby bar
after the show unwinding with some of my exhibitor friends. They introduced me
to a few people sitting at the table with them and I had the pleasure of meeting
Scott Dortch, president of Royal Pacific of Las Vegas (RPLV). We got to chatting
and I found another great decorator who had not been on my radar.
RPLV is located just off the Vegas Strip and has a 25-year history working
within the resort, gaming and entertainment retail industries. It is a full-service
souvenir and logoed apparel/gift company that specializes in all kinds of embellishments - screen printing, embroidery, foils and bling, to mention a few. The
company runs automatic screen printing presses and four embroidery machines
totaling 66 sewing heads. Who knew?
Scott was nice enough to invite me to an on-site visit the next time I am in Las
Vegas, which will be October. I am looking forward to seeing RPLV in action and
getting to know my new friends better.
Decorators often ask me how to be profiled in Impressions, within the Shop
Spotlight section or otherwise. It's really as simple as getting to know one other. My
chance meeting with Scott will produce a Shop Spotlight on RPLV in one of our
early 2015 issues. We look forward to sharing their story with the rest of the readers.
While Scott's operation is a healthy one, you don't have to be the biggest decorator to get your time in the spotlight. We're looking for unique stories that set
your shop apart from the one down the street. Maybe you've got a great, untapped
niche you've found success with, or have an award-winning design you'd like to
talk about. Or maybe you're a one-person shop doing something really cool that
no one in your area does. Those are the stories we like to tell.
We're looking for new prospects to vet for our 2015 lineup of Shop Spotlight
companies. If your firm is different, successful and wanting some publicity, drop
me a line. I'd love to make another new friend.
