from THE SHOW DIRECTOR Spring Into ISS i t's April again, which means spring has arrived and team sports have begun from coast to coast. Kids across the country are putting the snow behind them and heading outside to play. From baseball to soccer, a variety of sports soon will be in full swing. I'm particularly excited because I'm coaching my daughter Abbey's under-5 soccer team. It doesn't get any better than three-on-three soccer with a bunch of kindergarteners following the soccer ball like a swarm of bees. It's an amazing sight to see. Know what else is cool? Seeing the elements that go into producing finished apparel, like soccer jerseys, on the show floor at our Imprinted Sportswear Shows (ISS). Most soccer moms and dads don't know the full journey that their kids' jerseys (like the one shown) must undertake to get to their final destination - the playing field. From the raw materials in the mills, to the distributing, designing, numbering and lettering, each sports jersey embarks on a similar path. And we all give back to the industry with every piece of apparel we wear on any sports field each season. The best part of this industry is that there will always be a need for team sports apparel. For example, Abbey will be 6 years old next fall and she will have grown a few more inches. She'll also be playing on a new soccer team.
