handle bigger jobs. One staff member can handle both simultaneously.
* Maybe your program uses a few
designs in multiple colors with predecorated stock. Print a color image
of the shirt and design on the label
with the SKU and shirt-size information. Place that on the outside of
the boxes so you can see what's inside
without opening the carton.
* For programs with large inventory usage, you can count stock units simply
by establishing box-handling rules.
Have only one box open at a time and
keep the rest sealed. Keep the inventory in that box in "printer's folds,"
P.34

with any quantity less than 12 folded
in half. This makes counting a breeze.
For example, let's say there's a skid
of 11 boxes of mediums for one particular style. Ten boxes are sealed. The
eleventh is open and it contains three
stacks of printer's-folded shirts. On
top, there is a half-folded stack that
has four shirts in it. Given that one box
has 72 units, you quickly can deduce
there are 760 shirts on the skid (720
+ 36 + 4 = 760). By keeping inventory
organized, cycle counts aren't difficult.

keeping the screens on a rack near
the press that usually runs the job. This
lowers costs, as you avoid constantly
reclaiming and re-burning screens.

From your customer's viewpoint, company
stores and fulfillment are headaches so anything you do to help will be seen positively.
Make the experience easy.
Remember, you are in control. You always
can recommend new items. If sales start to
lag, introduce a new design or color. With
the change of seasons, maybe a lighter-weight
shirt for summer or jacket for fall is more ideal. For stock selections, sometimes showing
your customer a "good-better-best" choice
range will help him decide which blank to use.
Once your uniform program is established,
one point of contact - the "program expert"
- should manage it. Having a single manager helps narrow the focus and lets everyone
know who to consult regarding challenges.
Set this person up for success by establishing
clear expectations and trusting him to make
good decisions.
As with anything, remember to effectively
communicate. Working through obstacles in
a transparent and honest fashion will keep
your customer happy. Challenges will arise,
but it's how you deal with them that will keep
your uniform program going. 
