John McCain’s 2000 presidential campaign, has joined Edelman as its executive vice president and director of its California public affairs practice. “My goal is for our public affairs, corporate and issues management work in California to play an increasingly central role in our national and global network,” said Schnur in a statement. Schnur has recently served as an adviser to the William & Melinda Gates Foundation, as a co-chairman of the Voices of Reform bi-partisan project to make state government more responsive to voters and as an adjunct professor at the University of California-Berkeley’s Institute for Governmental Studies and the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School of Communication. He also served as a spokesman for California Gov. Pete Wilson (R) for ﬁve years. Clem was legislative assistant for three GOP members of the Indiana Legislature. Before that, he was a ﬁeld manager for Indiana’s House Republican Campaign Committee. Clem will work on shepherding business projects through the legislature, including the Rockies Express Pipeline, a natural-gas pipeline that stretches from Colorado to Ohio. “I know what letters come in and I know what legislators respond to,” he told Politics. “That helps these grassroots networks to have an effective contact as a representative.” Alexsis Horowitz has joined the American Association of Airport Executives as its director of communications. She was the Federal Aviation Administration’s congressional relations liaison.
