Neuffer left his previous post as deputy assistant U.S. trade representative for Asia-Pacific economic cooperation affairs. Sarah Tinsley Demarest has been named the new vice president of public affairs at the Mortgage Bankers Association. Demarest most recently worked as deputy to John R. Bolton, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Before that, she served as a senior adviser to the undersecretary of state for arms control and international security. Americans for Redistricting Reform has brought Pam Pryor aboard as project director. Pryor most recently worked at We Care America as a vice president of government relations. Before that, Pryor was chief of staff to Rep. J.C. Watts, R-Okla. David Hirschmann is the new president and chief executive of the Global Intellectual Property Center at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He was previously the head of the chamber’s think tank, the National Chamber Foundation; the Institute for Governmental Studies; and the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School of Communication. David Hirschmann The Ohio Republican Party has named Jason Levine deputy communications director. Levine leaves his position as client services manager at Republican consulting firm Crosslink Strategy Group. He had been working on Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign, but left when campaign manager Terry Nelson left the campaign. Idaho Democrats voted to elect Keith Roark chairman after Richard Stallings resigned in November. The Utah native has lived in Idaho since 1977 and founded the Roark Law Firm in 1985. Roark ran for Idaho attorney general in 2002 but lost to Republican Lawrence Wasden. Trent Lott, R-Miss., and John Breaux, D-La., have created a bipartisan lobbying firm, the Breaux-Lott Leadership Group. The duo will be joined by their sons, Chet Lott and John Breaux Jr., and Lott’s former chief of staff, Bret Boyles. The group will “provide a range of services through just one firm possessing years of experience at the highest levels,” according to a release announcing the new venture. Both Lott and Breaux came to Capitol Hill in the 1960s as congressional aides and eventually succeeded their bosses as members of Congress. After being elected to the Senate, they served together on the Commerce and Finance committees. Amos Snead is returning to Dittus Communications to work as an assistant vice president for its food, health and nutrition practice. Snead leaves his post as press secretary for House Minority Whip Roy Blunt, R-Mo. In an e-mail, Snead said it was hard to leave the Whip’s office, but “both the timing and circumstance of this opportunity were tough to ignore, and after doing a lot of thinking, I thought it was a good time to make the move. I’ll miss the pace and people of Capitol Hill, but I’m looking forward to what I expect will be a new and exciting challenge.” Alex Conant has been named as the new press secretary for the Republican National Committee, where he will report to Danny Diaz, who left Sen. John McCain’s campaign to return to the RNC, where he had worked previously. Conant leaves his position as regional spokesman at the White House. Prior to the White House, Conant was a spokesman for Sen. John Thune, R-S.D. He tells Politics he took the position because he knows “how important it is to elect a Republican to the White House.
