This sample itinerary can be customized for anytime of the year. You’ll find it at coordinates F-14 on your 2008 Annual Group Travel Map distributed in the Fall 2007 issue of Itineraries Minnesota Magazine. DAY ONE 12 – 1:30 pm Roll into Willmar and enjoy lunch at the Green Mill Restaurant. Choose from their selection of signature Mill Street brews while sampling Minnesota’s most awarded pizzas or soups and salads to heartier fare; they have a choice to fit any taste. Since the Green Mill is located inside the Holiday Inn, you can quickly check into your room as well. 1:30 – 4:00 pm Take a step back in time as you tour the Mikkelson Collection – the world’s largest and finest of Larson Boat Works, featuring the famous Falls Flyers. The collection is adorned with all the boating memorabilia imaginable. 4 – 5:00 pm Return to the Holiday Inn, Willmar’s full service hotel, offering comfortable rooms, lounge, pool and more. Unpack and freshen up before the evening’s activities. w w w. i t i n e r a r i e s m i n n e s o t a . c o m 5 – 9:30 pm Take the short ride north to Spicer to Melvin’s on the Lake, located on beautiful Green Lake. You have a choice of dining inside, outside on the patio, or aboard their Houseboat for a dinner cruise. All offer an incredible view of Green Lake. (The boat’s view is slightly better!) Call ahead for cruise arrangements. Stick around for the evening’s musical entertainment. DAY TWO 9 – 10:00 am Enjoy a continental breakfast at your hotel. 10 – 1:00 pm Board the bus for a 30-minute ride to Lake Lillian’s K-8 School – this former school is now a winery. Yes, you read that correctly, a winery. The Olde Country Winery is now housed inside this old school. See the vineyard and enjoy a tour and a tasting, then relax with a catered lunch over a glass of their fine wine. 1 – 3:00 pm From wine to buffalos…or more specifically, the J & L Bison Ranch, home to 300 bison that roam over 200 Melvin’s on the Lake beautiful acres. In addition to visiting the unique gift shop, you will board their bus and be up close and personal with the bison. We’re saving the rest of the details for the tour.
