The choirs of Christ Church and the University of Indianapolis perform music of Messiaen and contemporaries, remembering the French master’s uniquely kaleidoscopic view influenced by the glories of the natural world and an intense religious mysticism. Sir Edward Elgar also suffered from a bipolar condition; his Quartet of 1918 features a nostalgic second movement that “captured sunshine,” according to his wife, Alice. Our quartet-in-residence presents these works of exuberance and intimate emotion.
