AUGIWorld Magazine - January/February 2008 - (Page 12) AUTOCAD ARCHITECTURE Ready… Get Set… Properties! In the November/December 2007 issue of AUGIWorld, the author of the first part in this series on AutoCAD Architecture was listed incorrectly. The correct author is Tharakesh Ananthakrishnan. Tharakesh can be reached for comment at a.tharakesh@gmail. com. We apologize for this error. There is no need to enter anything for the Prompt and Default values. Refer to the following figures for a better understanding. You can also use a crossing to select everything at one time. You will see the Define Schedule Tag dialog open. Type the name of the tag as Room Tag – Area & Name Property Set Definition, Part 2 Now that you understand how to create a PSD (Property Set Definition) and attach it to AEC objects, let’s start making use of it. The first example we will see here is how to create a tag for spaces. These tags, once attached to the space, should automatically extract the name of the space and the area of the space, as well as display it. Begin by opening the same drawing that you used for practice in my previous article. Now, create a PSD named Space_Tag. This applies to Space objects. Create two automatic PSDs, one for the gross Area and another one for the Name of the space. Refer to my earlier article for creating a PSD. Also refer to the following figure. Figure 2: Attributes Figure 4: Define Schedule Tag Figure 3: Attributes Figure 1: Creating A PSD Space_Tag:Name Space_tag:GrossArea Create two attribute definitions using the Attdef command. For the tag, enter the following value: One point to note here is that I kept the height of the attribute definitions at 1 (which is actually a very small value) so that the scaling of this tag later can be understood and controlled easily. Also I have Center justification for the attribute definitions. Once you have created the attributes, you also can create the geometry around the tag (circle, polygon, and so on). From the Format menu, select Define Schedule Tag or enter Definetag at the command prompt. At the Select objects to create tag from: select the two attribute definitions you have created and then select the geometry. Note that by default, the dialog box shows the PSD and the properties you have defined by sensing the data in the attribute definition. Also you have an option to change the PSD and the properties if you wish. Click Space_tag under Property Set and you will see a drop-down arrow. Click the arrow to see other PSDs in your drawing. Pick a point at the Specify insertion point: prompt. The tag you are defining turns into a Multi-View block and displays on the screen. The size is based on your current Annotation scale (set at the drawing status bar) and the Annotation Plot Size in the Scale tab of the Units dialog box. You can select this Multiview block and check the properties in the properties palette. You will also have an option to offset the insertion point. w w w. A U G I . c o m 12 http://www.AUGI.com
