Or you can dimension all of the levels and lock the dimensions. From there you can simply change the lowest level to the elevation required. Piers and footings Placing and creating piers is exactly the same as in a building. First a pier family needs to be created if the shape is unusual. This is best done by using the provided templates. This affects how the item will behave when it comes time for scheduling and material takeoffs. What I love about the control Revit has in terms of designing major components is the downstream flexibility. As you can see from the figure above, a few steps had to be taken in order to create that footing / pier system. Suppose there was a dimensional change? In Revit we can actually design with the fact that our components are going to change incrementally and aesthetically .
