An example of drawings that can be created are simple floor plans, electronic circuit diagrams, network diagrams, flowcharts, and some user interface mockups. The components can be dragged and dropped into the drawing area and resized based on the requirements of users. Further, the properties of the components can be changed from the properties palette, which includes many parameters. A few new updates to this tool are Save as DWF, DWFx, PDF, JPG, PNG, and SVG; embed an image; progress bar; and a short- Command Complete point constraint tools in the Import Wizard can be advantageous when you are working with large complex drawings. The basic steps involved in the creation of 3D models from 2D drawing are: Identify base view geometry, Identify Projected View geometry, Align geometry if necessary, and Extrude. To learn more about this tool, you can visit the AUGI India Library section at http://www.augiindia.com (AUGIWorld India Edition, January/February 2008 article titled “Transforming 2D to 3D.”) A detailed tutorial is also available in a March 2007 AUGI HotNews article titled “2D to 3D Simplified.” Eric Stover is your Autodesk feedback contact. You can reach him at labs.IV2d to3d@autodesk.com Attention all AutoCAD command line lovers. An Autodesk Labs tool called Command Complete gives you at-yourfingertips reference to the 1,400+ commands and system variables contained in AutoCAD. With this tool, as you type in the command prompt, a pop-up list displays a complete list of associated commands and system variables that match your input. For more information, refer to the AUGI HotNews, January 2008 article titled “AutoCAD 2008: Command Complete.” Feedback on this product can be addressed to Eric Stover from Autodesk Labs: labs. commandcomplete@autodesk.com XVL Translator add-in for Inventor 2008 A relatively new tool at Autodesk Labs is the XVL Translator, which helps users export XVL format files from Autodesk Inventor 2008. A free XVL player and XVL Studio from Lattice Technology facilitate the sharing of XVL files with everyone involved in the digital prototyping process. Azita Mohasseb from Autodesk Labs is the contact person for feedback on the XVL Translator. Contact labs.XVLtranslator@autodesk.com In a future issue of AUGIWorld, I’ll address other tools available from Autodesk Labs, including Sustainable Materials Assistance for Inventor and Alias Studio and JT Translator Add-in for Inventor / Inventor LT.
