AUGIWorld Magazine September/October 2007 - (Page 26) Autodesk University You will learn, you will grow, and yes, you will leave AU a better Autodesk product user, manager, or educator than you were before. There’s much to be said about what you learn inside the classroom, but what you learn outside classroom walls by talking to fellow attendees is no less stimulating. Not only are you likely to pick up some valuable tips from these peers, but you’ll also be expanding your professional network, which will pay dividends over and over again in the years to come. You can meet by chance, for sure—people do it all the time. But at AU there are events designed expressly to put people together with like-minded people, increasing the chances of meeting valuable new contacts. Many of these events are brought to you by AUGI, an organization that also knows a thing or two about bringing people together. Birds of a Feather Luncheon – A true “power lunch” and an annual hit among attendees. Dine with people in your own industry and join your tablemates in a fun contest for the chance to win fabulous grand prize. AUGI Leadership Conference – Designed to help leaders of AUGI local chapters organize their groups, develop a strategy, partner with Autodesk and resellers, and plan and conduct local chapter meetings that enhance the professional skills of every chapter member. AUGI International Reception – A reception honoring AU attendees outside of North America. The AUGI International Conference brings together people from all over the world for an enlightening and fun evening. AUGI Annual Meeting and Beer Bust – The annual meeting is open to AUGI members and all other AU attendees. Here, AUGI members can take pride in the achievements of their organization, meet the AUGI Board of Directors, and be the first to hear future plans from AUGI. Following the meeting, AUGI hosts its popular Beer Bust in the Exhibit Hall. The biggest networking event of its kind, the Beer Bust kicks off AU in fine fashion. Networking evening of the event, in particular, is always an AU highlight. This year, the final full day of AU culminates in a great big party. There will be music, comedy, and an entertaining floor show. The final evening event is always spectacular. AUGI has plenty of things planned for this year’s AU as well. From its large booth in the exhibit hall, AUGI will distribute loads of giveaways, sponsor contests—including the famous Top DAUG AutoCAD competition, which is both fun and challenging—and run an exhibit hall game with some cool prizes. tomers electronically whenever possible, eliminate the direct-mail brochure and catalog, and eliminate paper-based promotional items from the conference bag. It is also phasing out class handouts and using biodegradable or recycled materials for everything from name badges to the AU giveaway item.
