Read on to find out what Impression does and how it works, then get tips for creating a masterpiece in minutes! What is Impression? ® Early this year Autodesk released a new product called Autodesk® Impression. This program was developed in answer to the requests of architects, engineers, and developers who wanted the ability to create color renderings quickly. These professionals also wanted the ability to mass-produce renderings with similar color schemes and to provide renderings of drawings variations without having to start from scratch. Autodesk Impression can accomplish the tasks asked of it, and then some. It works with AutoCAD® by taking the linework of a drawing or model created in CAD and applies hand-drawn effects such as shading to the geometry. Autodesk Impression provides a different method to create color renderings than what is normally used today. Typically, linework is created in AutoCAD and plotted. This plot is then hand rendered with markers or pencils. A new plot is made and rendered if the drawing changes. A digital approach typically involves rasterizing a CAD file and import6 ing it into graphics software. If the CAD file changes, the process is repeated, but you can plot as many copies as needed.
