In the Action Macro dialog box, Action Macro Command Name text field, enter Win36D6 and click OK. Once the new action macro is complete, it should look like the one shown in Figure 3. button to playback the action macro. You can also type the name of the action macro at the command prompt, like you would for standard commands such as LINE or CIRCLE. For the previous example action macro, you could enter Win36D6 at the command prompt and press Enter, or select Win36D6 from the Action Macros dropdown list and click Play on the Action Recorder panel. The action macros that you can playback are those found in the paths defined in the Options dialog box under the Action Recorder Settings node of the Files tab. Once playback of an action macro is started, you will be prompted to enter a value for each node that is set to request input or to respond to a user message box that might have been inserted. TIP: In addition to starting a command in the previous mentioned ways, you can also create a command macro with the Customize User Interface (CUI) Editor that would allow you to start an action macro from a toolbar, ribbon panel, or any of the other methods for starting an AutoCAD command. Output Formats While the Action Recorder is not the most powerful customization and programming feature AutoCAD has to offer, it is by far one of the easiest to learn and use if you are not familiar with programming. The Action Recorder is best for creating small action macros that might normally take 10 to 15 steps, but it can also create long action macros that go well beyond 15 steps. If you have not customized AutoCAD before, I highly recommend giving the Action Recorder a try. The key to being successful with anything new is to take small steps. The same holds true for the Action Recorder.
