Autodesk University 2008 Show Guide - (Page 78) Classes by Industry Geospatial Managing Assets—Spatially and Graphically GS314-1P 04-Dec-08 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm This presentation will illustrate how data derived directly from subdivision processes and loaded on to Oracle® using AutoCAD® Map 3D and build all the necessary processes for management and maintenance of the assets using MapGuide®. In addition, this session will also show how spatial data management products such as the Spatial Database Administrator (sDBA) can be used to streamline the process of managing regular spatial data updates while ensuring service uptime and version control. sDBA hides the complexity of loading very large and complex spatial datasets, previewing and control map base updates with its strong relationship with Oracle Locator and Autodesk geospatial products. 90-Minute Class All Levels Delfino 4101 Recep Alakus, GIS Administrator | Hume City Council various forms of output used for analysis, presentation, realtime visualization and real-world collaboration. This session will feature three leading Digital City modeling experts: Doug Eberhard of Autodesk, Kevin Gilson of Parsons Brinckerhoff, and Doug Pritchard of the Glasgow School of Art. These experts will share examples and insights around the exciting world of Digital Cities and how this new business and practice will take modeling, analysis, visualization, and collaboration to new heights. 90-Minute Class All Levels Delfino 4003 Doug Eberhard, Senior Director. Industry Evangelist | Autodesk Managing Utilities Infrastructure Data with Oracle® Spatial and Autodesk® Topobase™ GS318-2 04-Dec-08 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm Most utilities and public works organizations face the same problems—many redundant business and geospatial applications supported by inefficient, redundant processes. The results are poor data quality, inability to respond rapidly to customer requests, and uncompetitive and expensive business processes. This session highlights how Autodesk Topobase leverages the benefits of the Oracle Spatial database to deliver a scalable and interoperable enterprise platform to support utility network mapping applications. The speakers highlight both the technical merits and customer benefits of deploying a spatial database for geospatial workflows. For example, the high level of scalability, performance, and reliability are key reasons why most medium to large utilities are migrating to server-centric geospatial solutions. The authors describe how Autodesk and Oracle deliver a complete mapping solution that meets the stringent requirements of end users, application developers, and IT administrators. Various customer use cases are also presented. 90-Minute Class Intermediate Delfino 4001 Xavier Lopez, Director | Oracle USA, Inc. Autodesk® Utility Design at APS GS404-2 05-Dec-08 10:00 am - 11:30 am This session will present the approach that APS has chosen to develop and deploy Autodesk Utility Design (AUD). Included will be the strategic overview of how we built the business case to obtain internal funding, development of the configuration and logic files, product testing, and utilization. We will spend the majority of the time demonstrating the “before process” and “after process” to show how the AUD tool has significantly reduced the design labor hours to produce our job sketches, and has improved data integrity when preparing a work order package for residential subdivisions. We will present our road map for development and the progress of our second phase of development and implementation at APS. 90-Minute Class Introductory Delfino 4102 Richard Hammitt, T&D Business Technolgy Leader | APS .NET Programming for GIS Analysts GS400-1P 05-Dec-08 8:00 am - 9:30 am This class covers introductory programming for GIS analysts who want to venture into the world of customization with VB.NET. You will learn the prerequisites needed to start programming in .NET, and how to create drawing aliases, attach source drawings, create and execute a simple query, create object data, and more. 90-Minute Class Introductory Delfino 4101 Strahimir Antoljak, P.E., Project Engineer | Langan Engineering & Environmental Services Implementing a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) Using RESTful Web Services Based on FDO GS318-3 04-Dec-08 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm Many organizations are developing integrated applications based on Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) using web services. Instead of simply consuming data, Web 2.0 enables participation in creating and maintaining geospatial data. One of the critical geo-enabling technologies is the Feature Data Object Application Programming Interface (FDO API), which exposes a full Web 2.0 geospatial data creation and edit API to web clients. I have developed a RESTful web services implementation of the FDO API as well as the MapGuide Open Source API. In this presentation, I will provide an introduction to developing Web 2.0 applications for creating and editing geospatial data using web services. I will demonstrate several FDO data sources including the open source RDBMS data providers for Oracle® Spatial that I developed and contributed to the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (osgeo.org). 90-Minute Class Advanced Delfino 4002 Haris Kurtagic, CEO | SL-King Digital Cities Modeling Experts Panel GS318-1 04-Dec-08 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm The emerging business of “Digital Cities” is requiring better convergence, integration, and interoperability between CAD, BIM, geospatial, visualization, simulation and Web technologies. It is requiring both modelers and users to deal with ever-increasing levels of detail, accuracy, accountability, and overall model size. It is also changing the way we need to think about creating and managing these models and their 78 http://www.osgeo.org
