The university educates men and women to “impact their world for Christ” through scholarship and service. The school recently established several new programs, including a Master of Education and a Master of Arts in Counseling and Ministry Leadership, as well as undergraduate degrees in nursing, digital media arts, Spanish, Spanish education, economics and finance, political studies, recreation and sports ministry, social work, and worship leadership. U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks Huntington among the top comprehensive colleges in the Midwest. In 2005, Huntington was also named a “best value college” by U.S. News and World Report. With low student-faculty ratio, students gain individualized instruction from outstanding faculty. Some also have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty in professional research. Huntington offers a number of study-abroad opportunities through the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities and houses the Huntington University Enterprise Resource Center (ERC), a “connector” between the university and area businesses, not-for-profit organizations, social service agencies, churches and local governments. The ERC provides meaningful “real-world” experiences for Huntington University students, while helping area entities to grow and prosper. Among the university’s notable learning facilities is Huntington’s largest building, a 90,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art Science Hall that houses the Division of Natural and Mathematical Sciences. Huntington teaches its students to “put feet to their faith;” more than 70 percent of resident students participate in volunteer service in the local community and around the world. The school has been cited in The John Templeton Foundation’s “Honor Roll of Character-Building Colleges” and the President’s “Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.” With a number of student organizations, worship and theatre ensembles, mission trips, and intercollegiate and intramural athletics, students at Huntington couple outstanding academics with a variety of extra-curricular activities, creating one of the best Christian college experiences in the country. Indiana Tech provides career-focused degree programs for learners of all ages. With a commitment to relationship-based education, academic programs are designed to offer students hands-on opportunities to learn practical skills for success in their chosen careers. The university was founded in 1930 in Fort Wayne as a small engineering college for men. Since then it has grown into a coed, private university with programs in engineering, computer studies, business, criminal justice, elementary education, and more. Fall 2008 brings the debut of bachelor’s degree programs in energy engineering and physical education. The main campus, just east of downtown Fort Wayne, has experienced tremendous growth in recent years with the addition of new residence halls, a lighted soccer field, an expanded engineering center, and the Andorfer Commons student center. In addition to traditional programs at the main campus, the College of Professional Studies serves nontraditional students with additional locations in Elkhart, Greenwood, Huntington, Indianapolis, Fishers, Mishawaka, Merrillville, Plainfield, and Warsaw, as well as a distance education program with online and independent study class options. Indiana Tech is a member of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Athletic teams compete in baseball, softball, golf, tennis, track and field, cross country, soccer, basketball, and volleyball. Men’s and women’s lacrosse teams will be added in 2009. Other extracurricular activities include cheer and dance squads, band, chorus, and academic and professional clubs. 15 http://www.huntington.edu http://www.indianatech.edu http://www.huntington.edu http://www.indianatech.edu
